Distinguished COM Alumni Honored

At this year’s Boston University College of Communication Distinguished Alumni Awards, students, alumni, and supporters came together to honor successful COM alumni. The welcome featured previous recipients of the award such as Erica Hill, a CBS News Special Correspondent.

Among other honors presented was the “Young Alumnus Award,” which this year went to Jason Saralins. Saralins began as an intern for E! Entertainment Television and within five years became the Vice President of Original Programming & Series. Mr. Saralins accredits much of his success to his participation in BU’s programs as well as “hard work, ambition, and opportunity.”

Audience members could tell that all these alumni were all passionate about their work. The honorees included successful film maker, Orlando Bagwell; the Chief People Officer of gaming mega-house Zynga, Colleen McCreary; and Bravo’s Executive Vice President of Development and Talent, Andy Cohen. All three shared many of their stories from BU and beyond, and imparted the crowd with many words of advice. Each speaker emphasized that students should take advantage of the numerous opportunities offered here at BU.

The event concluded with the words of keynote speaker, Andy Cohen. “Always listen when people talk to you, follow your passion, edit before posting to social media, and remember your breath at all times!” In short, this year’s ceremony was full of great memories, stories of BU from past to present, and countless laughs.

Congratulations and many thanks to all award recipients.
